We finally found a weekend where we could get away. We wanted the dogs to share the experience but it meant limiting our choices. I tried both the caravan parks at Lancelin but neither took dogs. I booked us in to Ledge Point Holiday Park at, wait for it…you guest it, Ledge Point.
Thursday night we spent getting everything ready and at 9pm I could be found down at Woolworths, as the shutters went down, getting last minute supplies. So much for putting my Project Management experience into action.
Our aim on Friday was to be on the road as soon as possible after work. By 16:10, campervan packed, petrol in the car, air in the tyres we were on our way. We took it easy and the 120 kilometer drive took us just under 2 hours. By 18:45 the campervan was all set up. We tried to put the awing up, but the wind was too strong – or that is what we told ourselves and it having nothing to do with our skills or lack thereof.
By 9pm we were tucked up in bed listening to the Irish crowd a few sites away. We found out the following day their party kicked on until 4am at which time the police arrived. The group were asked to leave on Saturday morning.
The weekend was spent getting to know our caravan and the best place to put things. We didn’t think we would use the hot plate inside but it was really useful especially with it being so windy outside. We put the awing up which gave the caravan a more homely feel. Surprisingly it didn’t turn out to be sweat box and with it being quite cool we were able to put our clothes back on – the neighbouring sites celebrated…
The weekend went fast and it was a good experience. There was one annoying group around us – you know one of those groups you can feel their presence 100 times over and there might only just be 1 or 2 of the group around (they are just noisy) and have a lack of care for anyone else whereas some groups are just there and you don’t even notice them.
Review for Ledge Point Holiday Park.
