The first thing that struck me was the cost. I felt it was quite high for a powered site. We arrived around 6pm and had to pay $50 dog bond. The welcome from the receptionist was okay but, being on holidays, it would have been nice to have a big friendly welcome – I suppose it was a Friday night.
The site is nice and clean and well organised with powerpoles with lights, site numbers and water drains. There is a good path sectioned off through the site rows so you don’t have to walk the long way around to the showers plus stop you feeling like you are walking through someone’s site – not that this bothered some people.
The toilet blocks are a decent size and get clean once a day, twice during peak. There is a nice large kitchen area and a small veggie (vegetable for the international readers) garden.
The kids playground has a climbing frame with slide and this unusual bouncing pillow. One downside is that the playground is right at the front entrance to the park.
All in all the park fells very cared for.
So why 3 out of 5? Unfortunately there are very few trees (I counted 1) around the powered sites and you are exposed to the elements making it feel like we were camping in a paddock.
It was very windy (not the owner’s fault) and made it difficult with the caravan awnings. Another camper said this was their second visit and their last due to the wind. There was a fantastic area in this gully for tents which helped protect them.
We went to go for a swim before leaving and the pool was closed. To be honest this felt like a tactic to get us packing up and leaving rather than something being wrong with the pool.
To visit the beach we had to drive there. You could walk but just a little far for those with small children – I also don’t recall seeing a foot path but don’t quote me on this.
My last impression of the Park: collecting the dog bond as the owner stood, at the door of the reception area, dragging away on her morning fag (cigarette for international readers)
