Basic Campervan Maintenance

on Jan 23, 2013

It has been nearly 3 weeks since we purchased the Campervan.  During this time we have spent quite a few mornings in the Campervan playing cards and eating.  We have also spent a night in the Campervan which gave us the opportunity to try out the Campervan.

We, or rather Rob, has been great and also carried out some basic maintenance:-

  • for a cost of $160 each replaced the mattresses.  Interesting fact (or maybe not): a caravan double mattress is smaller than a standard double;
  • put a watercoat seal over the canvas.  With the canvas costing around $3,000 to replace it is worth water proofing it to get a few more years out of it.
  • putting a wax over the zips and waterproofing them; and
  • bought tablets to clean out the water tank – work in progress.

For a cost of $385 the Campervan has been booked in for a service on 29 January.  Similar to a house structural inspection, we have also asked for a review of the Campervan and a list of items we should be concentrating on.
